Jane Barlow took these images of the queen appointing the fifteenth prime minister of her reign, Liz Truss. On Thursday night, the Queen died at Balmoral Fort after an extended and peaceable life.

The under photos are one of many final public pictures of Queen Elizabeth II, taken two days earlier than she died at her Scottish house on 6 September 2022.

Charles, who turned King Charles III on the demise of his mom, stated: “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mom.
